This page contains a list of the most recent official IRCC processing times as of April 12, 2023, as well as a comparison with last week’s processing times.
Please carefully read the information below to properly understand what these processing times mean.
These processing durations, which are formally updated every week by the IRCC, have been recorded and published for the benefit of our readers for more than a year now.
In early 2022, the IRCC changed its processing tool to incorporate accurate data on usual processing timelines rather than merely service standard times.
Formerly, it exhibited IRCC service standards, which represent IRCC’s goal of processing an application in a timely way. The service standards are not updated on a regular basis.
For 80% of applications, the majority of services for citizenship and permanent residency now offer processing timeframes that are updated weekly based on information from the last 6 months.
These updates give you more accurate information that reflects processing volumes and any changes to IRCC’s ability to handle applications.
Processing times for applications for temporary residency are also adjusted every week based on information from the preceding 8 or 16 weeks.
These processing timelines are meant to provide potential immigration and visa applicants to Canada an indication of how long it may take for a decision on their application to be made.
This does not indicate that your application will be processed in the same amount of time.
Because it is an average of the timings for 80% of applicants, the actual processing time for your application may vary (could be longer or shorter than time mentioned here).
Please keep in mind that the processing time begins when the application is received by the IRCC and concludes when the immigration officer determines whether or not to approve the application.
