Code of Journalistic Ethics

1. Accuracy

We are committed to serving the public interest by producing journalism that is accurate, reliable, and truthful. Journalists/authors will make every effort to verify facts and present them in proper context.

1.1. News sources will be attributed on the record whenever possible. Confidentiality will be maintained only when it serves an overriding public interest and protects sources from potential retribution or harm.
1.2. Accuracy requires updating and correcting information throughout a story’s life cycle as new, credible facts emerge.
1.3. Significant errors or inaccuracies that impact the audience’s understanding of a story will be corrected promptly and without ambiguity.
1.4. The same standard of accuracy applies to content from third parties or user-generated material.

2. Fairness

We are committed to impartial journalism that serves the public interest by fostering open dialogue and respecting the diversity of society.

2.1. Journalists/authors must remain fair, balanced, and free from personal bias in their reporting. Analysis and context are welcome in news stories, but opinion, commentary, or editorial content must be clearly separated from factual reporting.
2.2. News content will be clearly distinguished from advertisements, sponsorships, or promotional material.
2.3. References to race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability will only be made when relevant to the story.
2.4. Journalists will respond to public inquiries and challenges regarding fairness.

3. Independence

Journalism’s first duty is to act in the public interest. Editorial independence will be upheld by resisting censorship or external interference.

3.1. We reject corporate, political, or any other external influence over editorial decisions.
3.2. Journalists will cover their own costs and decline payments, gifts, or favors in exchange for coverage.
3.3. Payment will not be made to subjects or sources with a vested interest in a story, except for commentators or contracted experts.
3.4. Journalistic standards will apply equally to stories involving our owners or sponsors. Attempts to influence coverage—directly or indirectly—will be resisted.

4. Integrity

We will maintain conduct that avoids conflicts of interest, whether real or perceived. If conflicts are unavoidable, they must be transparently disclosed.

4.1. Deceptive practices or misrepresentation of identity will only be used when necessary to serve the public interest.
4.2. Any rehearsed or staged elements of news content will be clearly disclosed.
4.3. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. All ideas, words, images, and intellectual property borrowed from others will be properly credited.
4.4. Journalists must exercise caution when expressing personal opinions—particularly on social media—to maintain the perception of fairness and professionalism in their reporting.

5. Respect

Our reporting will reflect respect for individuals and communities, prioritizing editorial relevance and the public good.

5.1. Special care will be taken when reporting on children or vulnerable individuals, with respect for their dignity.
5.2. Sensitive and responsible handling will be applied when reporting on dangerous situations or publishing violent or graphic content.
5.3. We will treat all individuals with courtesy and fairness, ensuring that our presence does not distort the events we report on.
5.4. Sensationalism will be avoided in favor of responsible journalism.
5.5. Privacy rights will be respected unless there is a compelling public interest that justifies intrusion.
