Here are the latest official IRCC processing times as updated on April 18, 2023 as well as a comparison with last week’s processing times.
Please carefully read below information to properly understand what these processing times actually mean.
These processing times have been monitored by us for more than a year and updated weekly for the benefit of our readers. They are officially updated each week by the IRCC.
In order to provide accurate information on typical processing durations rather than just service standard timelines, the IRCC updated its processing tool at the beginning of 2022.
Prior to that, it exhibited only IRCC service standards, which represent IRCC’s goal of prompt application treatment. The service standards are seldom updated.
The majority of citizenship and permanent residency services now show processing times for 80% of the applications, which are updated each week based on data from the previous 6 months.
These updates give you more precise information that takes into account processing volumes and any changes to IRCC’s ability to process applications.
Processing times for applications for temporary residency are also updated every week based on data from the preceding 8 or 16 weeks.
These processing timelines are meant to provide potential immigrants and visa applicants to Canada a ballpark sense of how long it would take to decide whether or not to approve their application.
This does not indicate that processing of your application will take the same amount of time.
Given that it is an average based on the processing times for 80% of the applicants, the processing time for your application may be longer or shorter than mentioned.
Please be advised that the application processing time begins after it is received by the IRCC and concludes whenever the immigration officer determines whether or not to accept the application.
