On March 15, 2024, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) released crucial information regarding the yearly provincial nomination selections for 2023.
This information is crucial since it clarifies the prospects for those applying for permanent residence (PR) this year.
OINP is a fantastic choice for Express Entry applicants, in addition to international students and those with job experience in Canada (within or outside Canada).
Additionally, OINP had a far larger PNP allotment in 2023 at 16,500 as compared to 9,750 in 2022.
Still, in December 2023, the OINP met its yearly provincial quota of permanent residency nominations allotted by the federal government.

As a result of the continued high demand, the OINP issued the most nominations in its history in 2023.
With almost 4,500 nominations, the OINP sent the most nominations for skilled tradespeople in its history in 2023.
A little over 28% of all nominations went to those who had either a job offer or employment experience in a skilled trade, such as:
- Welders and related machine operators
- Telecommunications installation and repair workers
- Supervisors, motor transport and other ground transit operators
- User support technicians
- Construction millwrights and industrial mechanics
Furthermore, the OINP nominated more than 2,000 healthcare workers in order to solve the labour shortage in the industry—the highest number of health workers in the organization’s history.
Healthcare professionals like those mentioned below received a little over 12% of the nominations.
- Pharmacists
- Family doctors, and general practitioners.
- Dentists
- Nurse assistants, orderlies, patient service associates,
- Registered nurses, and registered psychiatric nurses
Over 5,000 people, or about 33% of the total nominations, were from the IT industry. Among them were:
- Software Engineers and Designers
- Software programmers and developers
- Computer and information systems managers
- Data scientists
- Database analysts, and administrators
