New CRA Payment Dates In April 2024

Canada Revenue Agency (CRA Payment Dates): To help people cope with growing living expenses, the Canadian government offers a variety of credits and rebate payments and the majority of Canadians await upcoming payment dates.

You’ve come to the correct place if you’ve been wondering when the CRA payments in April 2024 are due.

All Canadian taxpayers, including those with work permits and international students, are eligible for the majority of the CRA payments.

Major CRA payments are made on a quarterly basis (every 3 months), which makes April (beginning of the 2nd quarter) the month when Canadian residents keep an eye on new payments.

The upcoming scheduled CRA benefit payments that have not yet reached eligible Canadians’ pockets are listed below.

1. GST Payment

Canadian taxpayers will receive their GST/HST credit on April 5, 2024, with previous GST payment sent on January 5.

The goal of the tax-free quarterly Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax (GST/HST) credit is to reduce the tax burden on low- to moderate-income people and families.

The upcoming payout is anticipated to be made on April 5, 2024, and based on annual income, eligible Canadians can receive up to:

$496 for individuals
$650 for married couples or common-law partners
$171 for every child under 19 years old

This credit is applied for automatically when your taxes are filed, so you don’t need to apply for it.

Newcomers to Canada are also eligible to receive GST payments, but upon arrival, they must apply for GST credit.

2. Child Benefit (CCB) in Canada

April 19, 2024, is the upcoming scheduled date for qualifying Canadian families to receive the Canada Child Benefit, or CCB, payments.

The government offers a tax-free monthly stipend known as the CCB to assist with child(ren) bringing up costs.

CCB payments are made on a monthly basis, usually prior to the 20th of every month.

Prior to applying for the Canada Child Benefit and any associated provincial and territory programs, temporary residents must have been in the country for a continuous period of 18 months and hold a valid permit in the 19th month of their stay.

Your income and the ages of your children will determine the amount you receive in 2022.

3. Canada Carbon Rebate, formerly known as Climate Action Incentive Payment (CAIP)

The Canada Carbon Rebate (previously known as CAIP) is a tax-free payment intended to help families and individuals balance the expenses related to federal carbon pricing.

A family of 4 can receive a maximum Canada Carbon Tax Rebate payment of up to:

$1,800 in Alberta ($450 quarterly);
$1,200 in Manitoba ($300 quarterly);
$1,120 in Ontario ($280 quarterly);
$1,504 in Saskatchewan ($376 quarterly);
$760 in New Brunswick ($190 quarterly);
$824 in Nova Scotia ($206 quarterly);
$880 in Prince Edward Island ($220 quarterly); and,
$1,192 in Newfoundland and Labrador ($298 quarterly).

Only the residents of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador are eligible for CCR.
