As of December 23, 2024, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has fulfilled its 2024 permanent residency nomination quota.

In 2024, the Federal Government allocated 21,500 nominations for OINP across all segments.

OINP announced on December 23 that they have distributed all 21,500 nominations for 2024.

New applications, as well as those that have been previously submitted to the OINP, will be accepted and reviewed under the program’s nomination allocation for 2025, as per the OINP update.

Eligible candidates may submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for consideration in one of the five primary streams of OINP.

The profile is allocated a score, and a draw is conducted to determine the cut-off score for the purpose of sending Invitations to Apply (ITA).

Furthermore, OINP invites Express Entry profiles by sending them Notifications of Interest (NOI) based on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores under three main streams.

What to expect from OINP in 2025

We are expecting a significant reduction in the number of invitations that OINP will be sending in 2025 because of the reduction in the federal government’s immigration levels plan.

The Canadian government has reduced the overall provincial nomination program (PNP) annual target by around 54% or 65,000 for 2025 to 55,000.

Overall, the PNP quota was 110,000 for 2024 and out of it, 21,500 were allocated to Ontario, which was 19.54% of the total quota.

With similar calculation, we are expecting that the 2025 quota will be slashed drastically and will be around 10,747 nominations.

This is almost similar to the annual nomination quota in 2022 of 9,750, so we can expect that OINP will be sending lesser invitations as compared to 2024.
