Federal government is now updating the wait times online three times each day to help applicants understand what to expect at passport offices. This article lists the most recent wait times for Canadian passport offices as of 3:30 PM EST today, August 29, 2022 and any recent development in processing of Canadian passports.
Tip: Wait times are less towards end of the day.
Today, Karina Gould, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development provided an update on the important measures in place to improve passport processing, including:
- Increase in the number of staff at Service Canada, with over 2,000 of them currently offering passport services to help meet increased demand;
- Extending the ease of renewing a passport to adults who received one during the previous 15 years;
- New triage system that’s been put into place in urban locations to control lines and guarantee that Canadians who need passports right away for travel are receive them in time;
- Expansion of the passport pick-up service, which is currently offered at four Service Canada Centers in addition to almost all passport offices. Nine additional Service Canada Centers will provide the service in the upcoming weeks;
- To assist in meeting the passport requirements of rural and distant areas, the expansion of passport services to 24 scheduled outreach sites in Ontario, Québec, and Atlantic Canada, with more to be announced in the upcoming weeks.
