Cases of COVID In Canada Are Increasing Rapidly

Although, 74% people of Canada’s eligible population has been fully vaccinated.

Since the beginning of August 2021, Dr. Theresa Tam (Chief Public Health Officer of Canada) has acknowledged that Canada has entered 4th wave of COVID19, predominantly because of highly contagious delta variant.

From August 16 to 21, Canada has reported 89 new deaths with count of total active cases at 23,788. Highest count of new cases was around 4000 reported on August 16 and highest count of deaths was 42 on August 18.

As of August 21, 74.4% of Canada’s eligible population has been fully vaccinated, while 83% have received at least 1 dose. So far, data has shown that more than 89% of the new cases are coming among unvaccinated individuals and only 0.6% of the new cases are among fully vaccinated.

Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau has been repeatedly urging the Canadians to get vaccinated. In a recent tweet, he again emphasized on the importance of vaccination for reopening of Canada.
