IRCC has now started sending PGP 2023 (Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship) invitations to apply for permanent residency this year.
Beginning today, these invitations to apply for permanent residency to the sponsors who submitted their interest in 2020 will be sent over the next 2 weeks, asking the sponsors to apply for PR for their parents and/or grandparents.
IRCC is expected to send a total of 24,200 invitations to prospective sponsors, with the goal of receiving up to 15,000 complete applications. Yes, that’s the target for 2023.
Individuals who submitted an interest-to-sponsor form in 2020 will now have to check their email for an invitation to apply from IRCC.

While this is good news for 2020 sponsors who submitted their interest in bringing their parents or grandparents to Canada, more Canadians are complaining of not getting a fair chance to pitch their elders in for permanent residency since 2020.
Even for the eligible sponsors who submitted their interest in 2020, IRCC has been so lazy to update the income requirement for 2022 until today.
Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship 2023 income requirements
IRCC has now officially updated the income requirement for parents and/grandparents sponsorship in 2023 for the last 3 years.

Canada PGP 2023 Application Process
Parents and/or grandparents program continues to be competitive, even though it has not opened new interest-to-sponsor forms since 2020.
Out of 24,200 invitations that will be sent over the next 2 weeks, only 15,000 complete applications will be accepted.
If you receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residency, then you will need to submit two applications:
- sponsorship application
- permanent residence application
If IRCC approves both of your applications, then sponsors will have to sign an undertaking agreement that comes into effect on the day your parent(s) or grandparent(s) becomes a permanent resident of Canada.

How would I be able to confirm that the IRCC has sent me an invitation to apply?
If you are invited to apply, IRCC will send you an invitation to the email address you provided on your 2020 interest form.
To ensure that you do not miss IRCC invitation,
Check the email address that you gave on your 2020 interest-to-sponsor form.
Check your junk mail or spam folder for an email from us.
What if your email address has changed or you have misplaced your confirmation number?
IRCC will post a link on their official website on October 23, 2023, that will allow you to find your lost confirmation number to:
get your invitation status
get the confirmation number you received when you submitted your 2020 interest-to-sponsor form
receive a copy of your invitation to apply letter, if you have been invited
tell us your new email address if you’re no longer using the one you put on your 2020 interest-to-sponsor form
How much is the fee for Parents and grandparents sponsorship 2023?
The fee for Parents sponsorship in 2023 is $1,080.
What is the duration of the parents and grandparents program undertaking?
Sponsors are financially responsible for 20 years from the day their parents and/or grandparents become permanent residents of Canada.
