Immigration to Canada from India Continues to be at record high

The trend of immigration to Canada from India continues to see a remarkable surge in recent years.

There has been a significant increase, with the number of new Indian permanent residents (PRs) increasing from 39,340 in 2015 to 139,785 in 2023.

In the first 4 months of 2024, the number of Indians landed in Canada as new permanent residents (PRs) has already reached 51,450, as per the latest immigration data updated on June 17.

This number is equal to the total annual admission of new Indian PRs in 2017, when India took over the top spot of source countries from the Philippines.

The Philippines was the top source country for new permanent residents in 2015 and 2016.
