Ontario-OINP Draw Sent 1,654 Permanent Residency Invitations

On January 19, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) sent out 1,654 invitations to apply for permanent residency (PR) in a new draw.

This was a general round of invites sent out through the OINP Foreign Worker stream to profiles with a job offer in any of the TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupations with a score of 50 or higher.

This is the first general draw for the OINP Foreign Worker Stream since March 1, 2022.

Previous OINP Foreign Worker stream draws on January 9 targeted profiles having a job offer in any of the 63 skilled trade occupations or 41 healthcare or 15 tech occupations.

Invited candidates will have to submit their complete application within 14 calendar days of receiving the invitation.

OINP Foreign Worker Stream Draws January 2024

Eligibility Criteria for the Ontario Foreign Worker Stream

You can build a profile under the OINP Foreign Worker Stream if you have:

1. Full-time (1,560 hours per year and at least 30 hours per week) employment offer in Ontario’s TEER categories 0, 1, 2, or 3 with no end date.

The employment provided must pay at or above the median wage level for that occupation in the region of Ontario where you will be working. Click here to see the median wage.

2. A minimum of two years of cumulative paid full-time work experience (or the equivalent in paid part-time work) in the same occupation as the job offer.

If your job offer is for a profession that requires an obligatory licence or authorization, you are not required to have two years of work experience, but you must have a valid licence or authorization.

3. Intention to live in Ontario after being given permanent residence.

4. Before applying, you must have legally lived in Ontario for at least one year within the previous two years.

  • Occupational Category 5, 6 – 3 points
Job offer: wage
  • $40 per hour or higher: 10 points
  • $35 to $39.99 per hour—8 points
  • $30 to $34.99 per hour—7 points
  • $25 to $29.99 per hour (6 points)
  • $20 to $24.99 per hour—5 points
  • Less than $20 per hour—0 points
Work permit status
  • With valid work permit, 10 points
  • Without valid work permit: 0 points

The work permit must confer legal status.

  • 6 months or more working in job offer position: 3 points
  • Less than 6 months working in job offer position or not currently working in position = 0 points

The work in the job offer position must have occurred within Ontario.

Canadian work experience: earnings history

Based on a Notice of Assessment the Canada Revenue Agency issued in the previous five years,

  • $40k or more earnings in a year: 3 points
  • Less than $40k earnings in a year: 0 points

  • CLB: 8 – 6 points
  • CLB 7: 4 points
  • CLB 6 or lower: 0 points

How do I create a profile with OINP?

To apply for this stream, you must first establish a profile with OINP by submitting an expression of interest in the eFilling portal.

After registering, if your OINP profile score is higher than the score declared in an OINP round of invitations and you meet all other requirements, you will be invited to apply.

Following that, invited candidates can provide paperwork supporting their online profile for permanent residency.

What are the most recent Ontario-OINP draws in 2024?

On January 19, the OINP held a general draw for 1,654 applicants seeking permanent residency under the Foreign Worker Stream.

Previously, on January 9, 2024, two Ontario-OINP rounds were performed, inviting 1,451 individuals to seek permanent residency under the OINP Foreign Worker Stream.
