Important Update By IRCC For Fall Study Visa Applicants!

IRCC is advising students who are currently awaiting answer on their visa applications to get in touch with their designated learning institution in Canada to go over their options in case they are unable to travel in time for the start of sessions.

High Commission of Canada in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives shared an important update cautioning study visa applicants awaiting result on their application for fall 2022 intake. Information was shared via their official Twitter accounts.

Sharing more information, the Tweets acknowledged that the current processing time for study permit applications worldwide (including Student Direct Stream) is 12 weeks. Additionally, processing times in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives were longer in 2022.

Furthermore, Canadian High Commission in the aforementioned countries ensured that they are making every effort to shorten wait times. Also, they received “unprecedented” number of applications for processing. The update also emphasized that thousands of students in India are receiving their visas each week.

Applicants’ Response To This Update

@CanadainIndia contacting college is not the solution they are only suggesting to deffer, which will ruin one year of students like me. There should be some extension from @CitImmCanada side so that college can take decision in students favour. Otherwise this tweet is meaningless

Meet R. Patel, Study Visa Applicant

Yes exactly, Deferral is the only option left for us. Some kind of extension must be provided. I have lodged my file on 20th may and still not received the result. @CitImmCanada pls take this into consideration that we have done our process on time and now we have to suffer also.

Rajveer Thaker, Study Visa Applicant

Can you please issue a notice to the universities for the same as they are not cooperating. We have a lot at stake. What about the students whose program merely offers one intake. Please look into it. Receiving the visa one week late should not result in me deferring for an year.
