New Alberta PNP Rural Renewal Stream was launched on February 16, 2022 to encourage immigrants to integrate in rural Alberta communities.
There are currently 22 Alberta communities with a population of less than 100,000 and outside of the Calgary and Edmonton Census Metropolitan Area, designated for Rural Renewal Stream.
The Alberta Rural Renewal Stream has a 2-step process:
A community designation process – community recruits newcomers to meet labour needs and provides an Endorsement of Candidate letter.
A minimum of 12 months full-time work experience in an eligible occupation within the last 18 months.
It can be a combination of experience gained in Alberta OR in any Canadian province other than Alberta, OR out of Canada.
Post-Graduation Work Permit holders who completed a two-year post-secondary education program in their designated community, are not required to meet the 12 months of work experience criterion.
Most of the occupations under TEER 0, 1, 2, 3 4 and 5 are eligible under the AAIP, except for ineligible occupations listed in later part of this article.
This work experience must have been paid full-time employment (for a minimum of 30 hours a week) and must meet the following requirements:
